Frequently Asked Questions

If I leave my job or become unemployed, does my health insurance coverage continue?

If you change employers, you do have the right to remain with the group health insurance program for up to 18 months under the policies set forth by the Congressional Budget Reconciliation Act or COBRA.

You must pay full medical insurance premiums; at a group health insurance rate that often times is much less than the individual health insurance rates required for similar coverage.

NOTE: If you are seeking COBRA health insurance benefits, make sure to complete the forms available from your company's Human Resources and Employee Benefits department within 60 days of departing the company. Action must be taken with 60 days or you could be denied Health Insurance and Medical Insurance Cobra coverage.
